Get McKinney would like to extend a hearty congratulations to all the new McKinney graduates. May you have great success in your chosen path! And an amazing summer!
I don’t know about y’all, but I love summer break. I love having my kids home and taking things just a little more slowly than usual. We’ve got a big road trip planned for later in the summer, all the way from San Francisco down the California coat, to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon (I’ve never been!) and to visit family in Albuquerque. How about y’all? What exciting summer trips are you taking? Share in the comments – I’d love to hear about them!
Kicking of the first weekend of summer break, we’ve got some really cool events to try.
MArCH Benefit Concert
First off, tonight you have the opportunity to hear some great young, local talent at The Sanctuary. Zach Tesar, Nathan Braughton, Kate Cherry and Justin Letourneau of the McKinney Area Christian Homeschoolers (MArCH) will be performing a concert benefitting the MArCH benevolence fund. These students have been working on this concert all semester, and it is sure to be a great show at a beautiful venue. Tickets are $10 and you can grab yours right here.
North Texas Pride Day
Don’t miss North Texas Pride Day on Sunday, June 8 at the Mellow Mushroom in McKinney. This is a family friendly event, and I hear that the Cher impersonator is one of the best you’ve ever seen.
Zipline Day at the Heard Museum
On Sunday, June 8, the Heard Museum will host Zipline Day. The Zipline will be open so you can soar through the treetops and get a bird’s eye view of the sanctuary. Purchase your tickets in advance for the 1, 2, or 3 pm time slots. Be sure and check the website for size requirements and to be sure you’re dressed appropriately for your adventure!
McKinney Farmers Market
It is June and that means berries and peaches are starting to roll in at the farmer’s market.
The Farmer’s Market is open at Chestnut Square every Saturday from 8 to noon. Don’t forget that they open up at Adriatica from 3-6 on Thursdays, too.
McKinney Cultural Music Series
The Cultural Music Series presents sounds from around the world to enjoy on a beautiful summer evening. This Saturday form 6-8 pm enjoy Watusi and World Reggae at Finch Park. Bring a blanket, a picnic dinner and people you like and enjoy an evening filled with music.
So, that’s what I’ve got for you this weekend. Remember to share your summer vacation plans in the comments. I hope I’ll see you out and about this weekend in McKinney!
