Here we are, July 4th weekend already! Around the Rogers house Independence Day is a pretty big deal. Our youngest was born on the 4th so we start out with a big family pancake breakfast to celebrate her big day. Then we generally have a lot of fun with our great little neighborhood – bounce houses and water slides, neighborhood musicians, grilling, homemade ice cream. Always fun. Then we head over to Craig Ranch for the firework show to finish off the day.
My daughter is just old enough this year to understand that it’s not all for her birthday. I kind of feel bad about that.
Anyway. If you don’t have your plans all set for the weekend, here are a few things for you to try.
Friday, July 4th in McKinney, TX
10 am – Hit the Red, White and BOOM! Parade in Downtown McKinney. The most honored of traditions, the Independence Day parade is THE way to kick off your celebration of America’s freedom.
After the parade, you can mosey over to E. Louisiana St for their 4th of July Festival. Games, snow cones, and a doggy kissing booth will keep you occupied for the rest of the morning.
1-5 pm You can take a stroll around the courthouse and check out some sweet rides at the 7th Annual 4th of July Red, White & BOOM Car, Truck & Cycle Show.
You’ll have time to head home and put your feet up for just a bit before you head over to McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch for the evening festivities:
7-9 pm – Family Activities and Food vendors
8-9:30 pm – Live entertainment by Zane Williams
9:45 pm – The main event: FIREWORKS!
Saturday, July 5 in McKinney, TX
Things quiet down after the 4th, but McKinney is always good for some live music.
