I’m excited to introduce a new feature on Get McKinney – Humans of McKinney. We will feature local McKinney residents and their recommendations for making the most of life in McKinney, TX. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions about McKinney and get input from our readers. Fun right?
So this week I would like to introduce Corey Johnson, a 15 year resident of McKinney. She’s lived in both Historic Downtown and in Stonebridge Ranch. She enjoys all that McKinney has to offer with her husband Brad and her daughter Madi who will be leaving us for Baylor in the fall.
Corey has served as a mentor for students in McKinney ISD for years. Nobody loves the kids in McKinney more than she does, I promise. Corey loves vintage Airstream trailers and VW Vans. She can often be found on her front porch hanging with friends.
Corey offers us three tips today.
First, get to know the people around you. “McKinney has the most awesome people, and you are not getting the most out of living here if you don’t connect with the people around you.” I agree wholeheartedly. It just so happens that you’ve got an opportunity coming up this Saturday from 11-8 at McKinney’s Arts in Bloom. Go walk around the square, meet some artists and strike up a conversation with someone who likes the same art as you.
Second, play frisbee golf. With wine or beer. But Corey is not saying that you should break any laws. She is not saying that at all, and neither is Get McKinney. I have not done this, but I’m going to make Corey take me – and soon because the weather is perfect for it.
Third, “You should totally follow Buzz Andrews around because he’s like the most fun singer in McKinney. Are you recording me?” I’ll totally agree. We saw him Saturday night at Rick’s Lounge and he was fantastic. Here’s a little taste of his “Neil Young – Willie Nelson – Merle Haggard blend.”
Thank you, Corey, for the sweet tips!
So, we are looking for McKinney folk to share their tips with our readers. Do you have a couple of things that make life in McKinney that much sweeter? Fill out the contact form and send it my way.
OR if you have questions that you want to ask the Get McKinney readers, then you can send those in on the form, too.
I hope you’ll jump in and share with us!
