Towne Lake Park McKinney, Texas. It just rolls off the tongue. And why shouldn’t it? Town Lake Recreational Area in McKinney has it all. A big and beautiful 22 acre lake to fish or paddle boat on — surrounded by a 1.3 mile hike and bike trail for all ages to enjoy.
And that’s not all. How about a picnic? Towne Lake Park has you covered with two picnic pavilions, a concession area and restrooms. Just call 972-547-0045 to reserve pavilions, and 972-542-4865 for paddle boat rentals and concessions.
Horseshoes or volleyball, anyone? There are 9 lighted horseshoe pits and 2 sand volleyball courts. There’s also a playground, and ducks and geese for the kiddos to chase around.
And if that ain’t enough, how about a disc golf course? And a wooded one at that. Town Lake Park is home to one of the most difficult disc golf courses in the metroplex. So be sure you keep it out of the creek, keep it low to avoid the trees, and leave with as many discs as you came with. Good luck.
If you’re out for sport only and don’t plan on picnicking, you have several restaurants under two miles away in historic downtown McKinney. Cadillac Pizza Pub, One Lazy Lizard , and just over 2 miles out is Hutchins BBQ. If you’re into cinema after a day of fun and excitement, Movies 14 is right across the street.
Towne Lake Park in McKinney is an enjoyable naturescape nestled just off Hwy 75 and Eldorado. It’s easy to find, has plenty of parking, often hosts live events, and nuzzles up to Wilson Creek baseball/softball fields — where more family fun awaits.
So come on out and live a little. And don’t say I didn’t warn you about the snakes and skeeters. Especially if you venture out toward the creek.
