Howdy, McKinney! Fun stuff is happening this weekend, so I’m challenging you to get out and try something new in McKinney before the weekend wraps up. Here are a few ideas for you:
Monte Montgomery at The Sanctuary
Named one of the “Top 50 All-Time Greatest Guitar Players” by Guitar Player Magazine, he’s been called everything from “guitar-god” to the “answer to the Fermi Paradox.”
So this is your chance to visit Adriatica’s beautiful venue, The Sanctuary, and hear some great live acoustic guitar from a one of the best there is. Bud Rogers and I will be there, so be sure to say hi!
Get your tickets right here. Show starts at 8, doors open at 7.
Hit McKinney’s Thrift Stores
My friend Sherri over at McKinney Life Photos tells us all the stops to find some great buys. Plaza Thrift, Goodwill, and INN Style all offer the opportunity to find that diamond in the rough. If you love the hunt for a great deal, why not give McKinney’s thrift shops a try?
I will add to Sherri’s list the Habitat ReStore. If you are into DIY home improvement like I am, this is a great place to find building materials and other home improvement goods while supporting Habitat for Humanity.
Be sure to let me know what you find!
Try Zumba – At the Beach!
This is likely to be a two for one try something new for a lot of folks in McKinney! The Beach at Craig Ranch is offering ‘Summer Zumba Night! Zumba, of course, is the very popular aerobic workout based on Latin dances. The Beach Club is Craig Ranch’s great beach volleyball venue that offers sand volleyball for fun and competition. Bermuda’s offers food and drink on site when you work up a sweat and an appetite.
For 15 bucks, you can get your calorie burn on with a sand Zumba class, and follow it up with a free beverage at Bermudas while you laugh at yourself and your crazy attempts at the samba. The party is Saturday, July 26 at 8 pm.
Get Ready for Fall Gardening
Never tried vegetable gardening? With our long growing season here in Texas, fall is a terrific time to grow some fresh veggies. The Collin County Master Gardeners are offering a workshop to help you get started. They’ll help you figure out what to plant and when for the best results here in McKinney.
The workshop is from 9 to noon on Saturday, July 26. Register for the workshop here.
Get McKinney on Facebook
If you haven’t “Liked” the Get McKinney Facebook page, today is the day to do it. While the meat of Get McKinney is here on the website, I do share interesting goings on on the Facebook page from time to time, and when I get out and grab photos I share some of those as well. We hope to be hitting the 5,000 fan mark today, and when we do, I’ll be giving away a great prize to one of our fans. Come over and join us!
So, what is something new you will be trying this weekend in McKinney?
