Hello, McKinney! It’s going to be a lovely Saturday, but it starts going downhill on Sunday. Winter isn’t over, so get out there before you have to hunker down in front of the fireplace once again. Here are a few suggestions to keep you busy and out of the house.
Add a Little Tragedy to Your Life
McKinney’s own Young Actor’s Guild will be performing their version of William Shakespeare’s tragic tale of star-crossed lovers from feuding families, Romeo & Juliet.
Get your tickets now, for it’s better three hours too soon than a minute too late.
Go Listen to Some Live Music
Several of our McKinney stand-bys are offering live music this weekend. There is a little something for everyone. Take a look at the links and see if you can find the right kind of music for a February weekend.
Take the Winning Shot in the McKinney Magazine Photo Contest
McKinney Magazine, my favorite publication, is accepting entries for their annual photo contest. Saturday will be a beautiful day for getting out with the camera. Maybe you’ll be the winner. Deadline for entries is March 16 – be sure to get your entry in!
Get a Taste of McKinney’s Winter Market
Chestnut Square’s Winter Market offers local and organic meat, dairy, honey and produce vendors. You’ll also find sauces, canned goods, pasta, baked goods, wine (!) and flowers. Head down to Chestnut Square between 8 and noon on Saturday to take advantage of the tasty fun.
Enjoy a Luxurious Sunday Brunch
McKinney has some tasty options for Sunday champagne brunch. Ricks’ Chophouse opens the dining room with their special brunch menu every Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.
During most of the week, Gather McKinney is a special events venue. But on Sunday from 10 to 2 it transforms into a beautiful brunch locale with a scrumptious menu. Gather is a BYOB establishment, so you can bring your favorite bottle of bubbly, maybe from The Wine Merchant, and Gather will provide the o.j.
One quick housekeeping note – Get McKinney is looking for writers and photographers. If you are interested, look over our contributors page and then get in touch!
That’s all I’ve got – have a wonderful weekend, McKinney!
